Listening and Talking

Callie gets mad when I don't listen to her.  I do find myself tuning her out sometimes, because she likes to talk, but she expects more than my listening ears.  She likes me to look in her eyes and verbally confirm over and over again that I'm listening.  One day she'll yell "DON'T TALK TO MUCH!" because I'm having a conversation with her daddy, and she wants me to listen to her, and then the next day, she'll yell, "MOMMY, TALK TO ME!" when I'm busy getting their b-fast ready, but she wants me to stop and tell her that I'm listening.  It doesn't surprise me that she insists on being listened to, because I expect the same from her.  "Callie, don't talk right now, I'm talking to your Daddy.  Wait till I'm done"....."Callie, use your words.  Talk to me"......"Callie, listen to me"....."Callie, LISTEN TO ME"..."Callie, look at me!" I wonder if I start visually and verbally listening to her better, she'll do the same for me? Just a thought.

Since I've mentioned talking...
